Who runs this site
Ujjwal, a student in India building Rubidu. I decide what happens to the data below, which makes me the “data fiduciary” under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act. To reach me about your data, email heyrubidu@gmail.com.
Just visiting
No ads, and nothing on this site follows you to other sites. To know who finds Rubidu and how, the site uses these, and nothing else:
- The site's own counter (no cookie, no IP address, no ID): that a page was viewed, which page, the site that sent you (for example “linkedin.com”, or “direct”), the kind of device, and whether it is your browser’s first visit that day (your browser keeps only today’s date). The counts go to a private Google Sheet.
- GoatCounter (no cookie, no personal data): pages, referring sites, country, screen size, browser, and which links and buttons were pressed. GoatCounter’s privacy policy.
- Only if you press “Allow” on the banner: Google Analytics 4 (pages, country and city, device, how long you stayed, clicks; Google’s policy), Microsoft Clarity (heatmaps and recordings of how the page was scrolled and clicked, with text in forms masked; Microsoft’s statement) and the LinkedIn Insight Tag (the kinds of companies, industries and job titles that visit, only in aggregate; LinkedIn’s policy). These set cookies. Ad personalisation is switched off.
- Changing your mind: choose again, or clear this site’s data in your browser.
- Nothing at all runs if your browser sends “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control.
- Why: to see which posts and pages bring people, and to show the site’s traffic to someone thinking of buying Rubidu. That is shown as totals and charts (visits, countries, referrers), never as a list of people.
The site is hosted on GitHub Pages, and GitHub keeps standard server logs (such as IP addresses) for security; see GitHub’s privacy statement. If you are in the EU or UK, the cookie tools rely on your consent and the cookieless counts on my legitimate interest in knowing how the site is found; you can object at any time.
If you join the waitlist
- What I receive: your email, the site that sent you, and any answers you choose to give afterwards (your kind of Mac, what you’d use, what you’d pay).
- Why: to email you when Rubidu is ready, and to count how many people want it and what for. Nothing else: no newsletters you didn’t ask for, and never sold or shared on its own.
- Where it is kept: the same private Google Sheet as the feedback, which only I can open.
- How long: until Rubidu launches and I’ve emailed you about it, then at most 12 months more. Reply to any email I send, or use the feedback form, and I’ll remove you straight away.
- If Rubidu changes hands: Rubidu may be sold to a new owner. The waitlist would then go with it, under this same notice, and you would be emailed first with a way to leave it.
If you send the feedback form
- What I receive: the topic you pick, your message, “You are” (optional), your email (optional), and the page address.
- Why: to read your feedback and make Rubidu better. Your email is used only to reply to you.
- Where it is kept: a private Google Sheet in my Google account, which only I can open. Google stores it as my service provider, possibly outside India.
- Who else sees it: no one. I never sell it or use it for marketing, and I don’t use it to train AI models. I may use AI tools to help me sort feedback, with email addresses removed first.
- How long: until 12 months after Rubidu launches, then deleted.
Under 18?
You’re welcome to send feedback, but please leave your email and other personal details out. If you think someone under 18 has sent me personal data, tell me and I’ll delete it.
Your rights
You can ask what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. I’ll reply within 30 days. If you’re not satisfied, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
The Rubidu app
This notice is about the website. Rubidu itself runs on your Mac: your voice, screen and files are not sent anywhere. The app ships with its own privacy notice.
